Bengaluru, Sept. 16 -- In a significant development, senior Veerashaiva Lingayat leaders convened today under the leadership of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to discuss the Karnataka state government's proposed caste census, which they said threatens to divide the community and undermine national and state interests.
The high-level meeting brought together former Chief Ministers Jagadish Shettar and Basavaraj Bommai, central minister V Somanna, and prominent community leaders including Prabhakar Kore and Vijay Sankeshwar.
