Hyderabad, June 8 -- Maganti Gopinath, the sitting BRS MLA from Jubilee Hills constituency, passed away in the early hours of Sunday after battling a serious illness.
He was 62. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
Gopinath was admitted to AIG Hospital in Gachibowli on June 5 after complaining of severe chest pain. He suffered a cardiac arrest and, despite being revived with CPR and receiving intensive treatment, remained unconscious and passed away at 0545 hours today.
Gopinath's political journey began with his tenure as Telugu Youth President from 1985 to 1992. He entered the Assembly in 2014, winning the Jubilee Hills seat as a TDP candidate by defeating Majlis Party's Naveen Yadav.
