Hyderabad, May 24 -- Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy launched a blistering attack on the previous BRS government, holding it responsible for the collapse of the Kaleshwaram project and the state's mounting financial burden.

He accused the former regime of scrapping the Congress-conceived Tummidihatti project out of political jealousy and opting for Kaleshwaram to pocket commissions.

Speaking to the media after reviewing development works in Huzurnagar and Kodad, Uttam said the Kaleshwaram project's cost was inflated from Rs 38,000 crore to Rs 1.2 lakh crore without justification, and its collapse is a direct result of arrogance and corruption.
