Shimla, Nov. 8 -- The British-era summer capital Shimla continues to preserve its colonial legacy with historic records of births and deaths dating back to the 19th century. The Municipal Corporation (MC) Shimla still maintains these archives, many of which belong to the British period.
A couple from Hertfordshire County, England - George Luke and George Matthew Ingram Luke - recently visited the Shimla MC's health branch to obtain birth certificates of their acquaintances born in Shimla during the British rule.
Their acquaintances, Ian Colin Stuart Normand and Mary Evelyn, were born in 1928 and 1920 respectively. The birth certificates were issued by the MC after verifying old records.
