London, Aug. 17 -- Terence Stamp, the magnetic British actor whose career spanned six decades and who brought unforgettable intensity to roles ranging from the tyrannical General Zod in "Superman" to the poignant Bernadette Bassenger in "The Adventure of Priscilla", "Queen of the Desert", died today at the age of 87, the Oscar nominee's family said.

"He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come," they said, according to DEADLINE. "We ask for privacy at this sad time."
