Los Angeles, Jan. 9 -- Emmy-winning director Bridget Stokes is set to helm the genre-blending detective story 'Zugzwang'.

Stokes made history in 2022 as the first Black woman to win an Emmy for directing a variety series, earning the accolade for her work on HBO's A Black Lady Sketch Show, created by Robin Thede.

She has now written and will direct Zugzwang, a fantasy-noir centered on a private detective named Lady.
