Moscow, July 31 -- BRICS does not respond to threats, and the association is not oriented against any countries, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
Earlier in July, US President Donald Trump said that an additional 10% trade tariff would be imposed on any country that supported the "anti-American" policies of BRICS.
"BRICS does not respond to threats. BRICS never orients its activities against any countries. This is not the task of BRICS. BRICS was created and is developing so that countries interact and cooperate in those areas that are of mutual interest and for the sake of mutual benefit. This is its purpose," Peskov told reporters.
BRICS is not an "anti-American" organization, Peskov added.
