Bhubaneswar, Feb. 25 -- In the largest cash seizure in the history of Odisha Vigilance, officials have recovered more than Rs 4 crore in cash from the Bhubaneswar flat of Deputy Director of Mines Debabrata Mohanty.
The cash, concealed in trolley bags and almirahs, was unearthed during simultaneous searches at his residential flat (Flat No. 302, Nature's Crest Apartment, Shree Vihar, Patia, Bhubaneswar), his parental house at Mathasahi in Bhadrak, and his office chamber in Cuttack.
Mohanty, currently serving as Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle, was apprehended on Tuesday night while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000 from a licensed coal vendor.
