Washington, Feb. 11 -- Universal Pictures has officially announced a May 19, 2028, release date for the next installment of 'The Mummy', confirming that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reprise their iconic roles in the franchise that defined turn-of-the-century adventure cinema.

After months of negotiations, the studio finalized deals with Fraser and Weisz to return as Rick and Evelyn O'Connell, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Universal also shared the news via its official social media channels.

The upcoming film will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmaking duo known as Radio Silence. With agreements now sealed, Universal announced the movie will open wide in theatres in May 2028.
