Rio de Janeiro, Dec. 17 -- The Brazilian Football Confederation is in talks to extend Carlo Ancelotti's contract as head coach of the men's national team, its president Samir Xaud said.

Ancelotti, 66, took charge of Brazil in May on a contract running until next year's FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

"The dialogue has already begun," Xaud said. "We will wait to sit down to finalize the details. The intention is to be able to carry out medium to long-term work. Work of excellence for Brazilian football."Ancelotti has overseen four wins, two draws, and two losses since his appointment.
