Srinagar, Jan. 23 -- Amid snowfall and harsh winter conditions, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army provided timely assistance to tourists, patients, pregnant women, and stranded families in several districts, officials said.

Most parts of Kashmir on Friday received the season's first major snowfall that cut off the valley from the rest of the country.
