Gaborone, July 27 -- Botswana and Mozambique gained promotion to tennis Davis Cup Africa Group IV with victories over Madagascar and Rwanda respectively in the Group V promotion playoffs here.
Botswana registered a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Madagascar, while Mozambique saw off Rwanda 2-0 on Saturday.
Botswana's Ntungamili Raguin earned Botswana the lead after beating Lucas Andriamasilalao 6-3, 6-2, before Madagascar rallied through Valentin Rakotondrasoa, who tied the score with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Denzel Seetso.
Botswana's pair of Raguin and Mark Nawa proved too strong for Rakotondrasoa and Antso Rakotondramanga, beating them 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to help the home side gain promotion to Group IV
