Nagpur, Nov. 22 -- union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari today emphasized that books play a crucial role in shaping ideas, personality and innovation, saying that a vibrant reading culture is essential in an era of rapid change.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Nagpur Book Festival at Reshimbagh Ground, organized jointly by the National Book Trust and the Zero Mile Youth Foundation, Gadkari said that reading for pleasure alone is not enough to cultivate a genuine reading culture.

He noted that the books he read during childhood had a significant influence on his thinking, values and personal growth.
