Bengaluru, July 21 -- Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai today cautioned against attempts to "malign" the reputation of the Dharmasthala temple under the pretext of unresolved allegations.
He asserted that the government must not allow any misuse of a centuries-old religious institution's name or faith.
Bommai welcomed the formation of the Special Review Team (SRT) to probe the allegations, noting that the temple authorities themselves had endorsed the move. "This is a revered centre of faith for millions. No one should be allowed to use this controversy to erode public trust or defame the institution," he said.
