Bengaluru, Dec. 8 -- Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said certain stanzas of Vande Mataram were removed during a Congress resolution passed under Jawaharlal Nehru's leadership in erstwhile Calcutta.

Posting on X, Bommai wrote "the fact is simple" and insisted that the alteration of the national song was an unquestionable historical event. According to him, "Some stanzas of Vande Mataram were removed in Nehru's Congress resolution in Calcutta.
