New Delhi, Nov. 20 -- Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday strongly defended the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, stating that similar exercises had been undertaken in the past as part of the Election Commission's routine processes.

He said the current round of revisions was more streamlined than earlier ones because citizens now have Aadhaar and several other supporting documents that can be submitted for verification. He added that online facilities have further eased and expedited documentation requirements.
