Mumbai, April 7 -- The issue of inadequate public toilet facilities along highways across Maharashtra was once again raised before the Bombay High Court through a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). Taking serious note of the matter, the court has directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to clarify its stand and has made it a respondent in the case.
Earlier, the court had also issued notices to the state government's Public Works Department (PWD) and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, seeking their responses on the issue. The hearing was conducted before a division bench headed by the Chief Justice.
