Mumbai, Dec. 19 -- The Bombay High Court on Friday granted bail to former Maharashtra Sports Minister Manikrao Kokate while suspending the two year prison sentence awarded to him by a sessions court in a decade-old cheating and forgery case linked to the allotment of government housing for economically weaker sections.
A single judge bench of Justice RN Laddha, however declined to stay the conviction pending the final hearing of his revision petition challenging thr Nashik sessions court ruling which upheld a lower court order.
The court granted him bail subject to his furnishing a surety of Rs one lakh.
