Hyderabad, Sept. 28 -- Panic gripped the Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport at Shamshabad, near here this morning after security officials received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the premises.

The alert was received at around 0606 hours following which the information was quickly relayed to security agencies. Teams from the CISF and local police immediately launched intensive anti-sabotage checks in and around the airport.

After thorough inspections, officials confirmed that the threat was a hoax and no explosives were found.
