Bokaro, Jan. 7 -- Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has reduced the net cost of fresh water by nearly 55 per cent through sustained water conservation and recycling initiatives.

BSL Chief of Communications Manikant Dhan said systematic and well-planned measures undertaken by the Water Management Department led to a significant decline in water consumption and costs. Total water usage dropped from 9.98 million cubic metres in December 2024 to 7.28 million cubic metres in December 2025, reflecting a reduction of about 27 per cent.

The achievement is attributed to improved Zero Liquid Discharge systems, enhanced wastewater reuse, pipeline rehabilitation, desilting of reservoirs, and strengthened monitoring and process controls.
