Nahan, March 11 -- In a tragic turn of events, 28-year-old Akshay Sahni, who had been missing since February 26 during a trek in the Churdhar forest of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, was discovered buried under piles of snow.
The body was located by a volunteer rescue team from Nauhradhar, who found him buried in a ditch during their final climb of the peak. Despite extensive search efforts from various teams, including the SDRF and the Mount Everest Expert Team, it was this volunteer group that managed to trace Akshay's remains.
Akshay, a blogger from Panchkula, Haryana, had been trekking with his friend, Vikram Singh, to visit the temple of local deity Sri Sirgul Maharaj on Mahashivratri. While Singh reached the temple safely.
