Guwahati, Sept. 27 -- The opposition Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF) appears set for a comeback to power in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) after five years, with the party leading in 21 of the 40 seats, according to initial trends from Monday's election.
Sources at the CEO's office said the BPF was leading in 21 seats till the filing of this report, while the BJP and the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) were ahead in 11 and eight seats respectively. The UPPL, along with its partners BJP and GSP, currently rules the 40-member council.
Counting of votes began around 8:30 am today. The majority mark in the council is 21 seats.
