Dhaka, Nov. 14 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has said that any reform proposal exceeding the scope of the July National Charter must be decided directly by voters through a referendum held alongside the national election.

BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed warned that the party would reject any "imposed or coercive" initiative that undermines the authority of Parliament or bypasses constitutional procedure.
