Dhaka, Jan. 1 -- Bangladesh Nationalist Party's current acting chairman Tarique Rahman, bidding his mother and former premier Khaleda Zia a final farewell at her state funeral, promised to carry on her legacy to serve the nation in any best way he could.

In a verified Facebook post, Rahman wrote, "I feel the weight of that legacy, and I promise to honour it with humility and commitment. Where her journey paused, I will strive to continue her work for the people whose faith and love sustained her until her last breath."Suffering from ailing health for some time, Zia passed away on Dec 30, aged 80, following which she was given a nationwide funeral and buried alongside her late husband, former military leader, President Ziaur Rahman.
