Kendrapara, March 25 -- The Bhitarkanika National Park (BNP) authority has stopped the artificial hatching of crocodile eggs through breeding and rearing at the Dangamal Crocodile Research Centre.
Bhitarkanika National Park ACF Manas Kumar Das stated that the decision to discontinue artificial breeding was made as the crocodile population has been steadily increasing every year. The carrying capacity of saltwater crocodiles in the water bodies of Bhitarkanika National Park is nearly full.
Additionally, artificial breeding has been halted to protect human lives and property from man-crocodile conflicts, Das added.
