Mumbai, Jan. 5 -- The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched the 'My Vote Not For Sale' campaign to boost voter turnout in the upcoming civic elections on January 15. As part of this initiative, the BMC will organize 20 street plays across Mumbai, targetting 1.03 crore voters, officials said here on MondayThe campaign aims to increase the voting percentage, which was 55.53% in the 2017 elections, officials explained.
The corporation has begun an aggressive online campaign with the tagline 'My Vote Not for Sale', thereby creating awareness about the importance of casting a vote.
The campaign, launched on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and X, concentrates predominantly on attracting young voters.
