Mumbai, Sept. 4 -- As the 10-day-long Ganeshotsav festival nears its conclusion, lakhs of devotees will immerse Ganesh idols on Anant Chaturdashi, the final day of the festival, on this Saturday (September 6).

The Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) has urged devotees entering natural water bodies for idol immersion to be cautious of 'stingrays' and 'blue button jellyfish', which are commonly found during this season.

On the final visarjan day, the BMC will deploy as many as 2,178 lifeguards and 56 motorboats at various chowpattys (seashores) to ensure the safety of devotees, officials said.

The BMC has also set up a total of 245 control rooms across various administrative departments, including the main control room at its head office. ...
