Mumbai, Dec. 18 -- : Discussions between second-rung leaders of the Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) over seat-sharing in Mumbai stood dead-locked over claims and counter claims by either sides on 15 wards.

It now appears that the impasse can only be resolved through direct talks between party chiefs Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray.

The alliance between the Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) and the MNS is now considered almost certain. Consensus has been reached on most seats in the Bombay Municipal Corporation elections.
