Mumbai, Aug. 18 -- The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced a complete holiday for all schools and colleges across Mumbai on Tuesday following a Red Alert for extreme heavy rainfall issued by weather authorities. This decision extends to both public and private educational institutions in the city and suburbs. The move comes after Mumbai endured its fourth consecutive day of torrential downpours today, with several areas recording over 200 mm rainfall within hours. This triggered severe waterlogging in low-lying zones, including Kurla, Powai, Andheri, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Byculla, Ghatkopar and Chembur, bringing road traffic to a standstill and delaying train and flight services.
