Mumbai, June 4 -- A major fire broke out in a cluster of scrap godowns at Chowdhari Compound on Khardi Road in Diva, in Thane district, destroying six warehouses owned by different individuals, officials said on Wednesday.
According to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, the blaze started late Tuesday evening in one godown and rapidly spread to five adjoining warehouses.
Firefighters responded swiftly with three fire engines, alongside personnel from Daighar police station and the regional disaster management cell. The fire was brought under control by 1:30 am on Wednesday, though cooling operations continued. No injuries were reported in the incident.
