Amritsar, May 30 -- Under Operation Shield, a blackout exercise will be conducted in Amritsar for half an hour from 8 pm to 8:30 pm on Saturday.
Giving the information, Additional Deputy Commissioner Urban Development Amit Sarin said the inner areas of Amritsar i.e. Walled City, Amritsar Airport and villages have been exempted from the blackout exercise. This means that the lights will not be switched off in these places.
"This is just a practice for how we all have to cooperate during a crisis, so there is no need to panic, only your cooperation will be needed," he said.
He appealed to the city residents to turn off all the lights when the siren sounds at 8 o'clock.
