Agartala, Nov. 28 -- The ruling BJP has secured absolute victory in the Tripura civic poll winning 98.5 per cent seats of 20 urban local bodies today.

Barring three seats of Ambassa municipality of Dhalai district of the total 334 seats won by BJP when opposition CPI-M and Trinamool Congress contemplated Supreme Court to countermand the elections alleging poll rigs.

Significantly, newly formed TIPRA Motha won a seat in Ambassa defeating BJP. Motha had won the last elections to Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) within three months of its emergence defeating the ruling BJP and main opposition CPI-M, which had a stronghold in the tribal areas for the last 40 years.
