Kolkata, July 2 -- Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya, who is set to become new Bengal BJP president, today said the saffron brigade would unitedly fight the 2026 state assembly election to oust the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Sixty-one-year-old former RSS pracharak, who emerged as the sole candidate for the post of president, said there was no "new and old functionary" in the BJP and the party has been well prepared to contest next year's poll unitedly.

Bhattacharya's nomination papers have been supported by incumbent and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar and LoP Suvendu Adhikari. The two were also present when Bhattacharya filed the nomination in the party office at Salt Lake, Kolkata.
