Khammam, July 29 -- BJP Telangana State President N Ramchandra Rao on Tuesday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is gaining ground in Khammam district, a region once considered a stronghold of communist ideology.

He was speaking at a gathering of party activists at Saptapadi Function Hall during his visit to the district.

Ramchandra Rao said Khammam is on its way to becoming a BJP bastion, pointing out that communist activists in the region are increasingly leaning towards the saffron party, similar to the political shift seen in West Bengal.
