Palampur, July 26 -- Veteran BJP leader, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and ex-Union Minister Shanta Kumar, has expressed anguish over the unprecedented natural disaster wreaking havoc in the hill state and raised serious concerns over the alleged misuse of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), citing the recent observations made by the Chief Justice of India.

Shanta Kumar, 90, said he was shaken by two news reports: one that brought tears to his eyes and another that made him "bow his head in shame." Recalling the tragic death of a newlywed couple in Chamba - crushed under boulders after a landslide struck their house - he called the ongoing monsoon destruction "the biggest calamity in the history of Himachal Pradesh."
