Hyderabad, July 30 -- Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao on Wednesday strongly pitched for the implementation of an Advocate Protection Act in the state, citing a rise in attacks on legal professionals.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Kothagudem Bar Association, Rao said he had written to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy soon after assuming charge, urging the enactment of the legislation.

He pointed out that states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have already brought in such laws for the safety and security of advocates. "We have also submitted a memorandum to the Governor in this regard," he added.
