Hyderabad, Nov. 13 -- Telangana BJP on Thursday announced a three-day programme beginning on Friday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, whose birth anniversary has been declared Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas by the Centre.

Addressing a press conference, state BJP president N. Ramchander Rao said the celebrations aim to spread awareness about Birsa Munda's life and his fight for freedom, Swadeshi and tribal self-reliance.

He highlighted various tribal welfare measures taken by the Modi government, including Rs 42,000 crore allocation this year, 90,000 houses built in 6,700 tribal villages since 2014, and financial support to 531 vulnerable tribes under the Van Dhan Vikas scheme.
