Shimla, Nov. 7 -- The political storm over the extension of the Shimla Mayor and Deputy Mayor's term from two and a half years to five has deepened, with the BJP now preparing to approach the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The party's top leadership has directed its councillors to file a petition on Friday, challenging the Sukhu government's October 25 ordinance, which extended the tenure of mayors across all eight municipal corporations in the state.
This move comes even as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the same issue is already pending before a division bench of Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Jiyalal Bhardwaj, which has issued notices to the State Government, the State Election Commission, the Urban Developmen...
