Ranchi, Aug. 19 -- The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today traded charges over the state government's flagship Abua Awas Yojana, with the BJP calling it "a symbol of despair" and the JMM defending it as a popular welfare measure.
BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said the scheme, launched with a target of building eight lakh houses by 2026 at a cost of over Rs 16,000 crore, has achieved "barely 15 per cent" of its
target.
He claimed that most houses remain incomplete, leaving beneficiaries without shelter.
According to Shahdeo, the government had fixed annual targets of 2 lakh houses in 2023-24, 3.5 lakh in 2024-25, and 2.5 lakh in 2025-26, but the actual progress has been minimal. ...
