Ranchi, Dec. 22 -- The Jharkhand Congress on Monday accused the BJP of targeting Health Minister Irfan Ansari on communal considerations.
Addressing reporters here, state Congress spokesperson Sonal Shanti said the BJP was repeatedly attacking Ansari because he belongs to the minority community.
He alleged that similar scrutiny was never applied to BJP leaders who previously handled the health department.
Referring to former BJP health minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Shanti said alleged financial irregularities during his tenure did not evoke any response from the BJP.
He also cited the tenure of Ramchandra Chandravanshi, claiming that health infrastructure and patient care had suffered during that period.
