Ch. Sambhajinagar, March 18 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured control of the Ch. Sambhajinagar Zilla Parishad after a prolonged political tussle over the election of its president and vice-president.

Avinash Glande was elected president, while Jitendra Jaiswal became vice-president, both without contest, as no other candidates entered the fray.

Despite a pre-decided formula for the posts, efforts were reportedly made by Shiv Sena MLA Abdul Sattar and MP Sandipan Bhumre to influence the outcome through political manoeuvring. However, the BJP managed to overcome these attempts.
