Srinagar, March 1 -- Senior BJP leader Altaf Thakur on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his remarks that "peace is not organic" in Kashmir and said that he lacks sufficient powers to govern effectively.

Thakur, who is also party's Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson, dismissed Omar's claims, asserting that the BJP-led central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has made peace a "permanent feature" in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

He said people are reaping the dividends of stability, and the region has witnessed unprecedented development over the past five years.
