Shimla, March 24 -- BJP state president Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday accused the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, of pushing the state towards an inflation crisis by imposing steep taxes, particularly on fuel.

Addressing a press conference in Shimla, the BJP state president alleged that the government has burdened the common people despite coming to power in 2022 with promises of relief and guarantees.

Bindal said the Congress government initially imposed a tax of Rs 10.40 per litre on diesel, which has now been increased to Rs 15.40 per litre, terming the move a direct attack on the pockets of the public.

He said the hike would impact farmers, orchardists, labourers, traders and ordinary consumers across the state.
