Mumbai, Dec. 22 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday said the proposed electoral alliance between the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena headed by Raj Thackeray, was an "act of desperation driven by fear of defeat" in the forthcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP office here, state party spokesperson Navnath Ban said the proposed coming together of the Thackeray cousins was aimed solely at avoiding an electoral rout. He asserted that even if the two leaders contested the civic polls together, they would be unable to prevent a victory for the BJP-led alliance.
