New Delhi, Dec. 11 -- Accusing a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP of smoking e-cigarette (vape) in the Lok Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Anurag Thakur raised the issued during the question hour on Thursday. Thakur, however, refrained from naming the MP from West Bengal's ruling party.

Vapes, which are prohibited across India, operate by using a battery-powered or electronic system to heat a liquid, often containing nicotine and flavouring, into an inhalable aerosol. Their use and circulation were banned nationwide following the enactment of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, which bars the manufacture, import, sale, distribution, storage and promotion of such devices.
