New Delhi, Dec. 4 -- Bharatiya Janata Party retained the Shalimar Bagh-B ward of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, with its candidate Anita Jain winning with the highest margin of over 10,000 votes in the by-poll over his nearest Aam Aadmi Party rival.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta earlier held the seat when she was a councillor.

Notably, the ward got vacant after Gupta was elected as MLA in the February assembly polls, and later became CM.

The Delhi CM had also conducted a roadshow in support of the BJP candidate from the ward last month.

Jain secured 16843 votes.

In the 2022 Municipal Corporation elections, Gupta had defeated the AAP candidate with a margin of 7990 votes.
