Bengaluru, Aug. 25 -- Karnataka Leader of Opposition R Ashoka today sharpened his attack on the Congress government over the Mysuru Dasara inauguration row, declaring that inviting Muslim leaders to perform the Chamundeshwari Temple rituals violates both their own faith and the sentiments of Hindus.
Referring to the controversy over writer Banu Mushtaq being considered for inaugurating this year's festival, Ashoka said, "Dasara is not a Muslim festival; it is a Hindu religious celebration centred on Goddess Chamundeshwari. In Islam, idol worship is prohibited - they cannot perform puja, cannot light lamps, cannot even bow before an idol.
