Lucknow, April 26 -- At a seminar on women's issues titled "Women's Reservation Act: Respect or Deception" organized by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee in Lucknow, senior Congress leaders sharply criticized the BJP over the implementation of women's reservation.

Avinash Pande, Congress National General Secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, alleged that the BJP is indulging in politics instead of genuinely empowering women. He said that while the Women's Reservation Bill was passed in 2023 with Congress support, it has not yet been implemented. Questioning the government's intent, Pande stated that if the BJP is serious, it should immediately provide reservation within the current Lok Sabha structure rather than delaying it.
