Hyderabad, Sept. 26 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today celebrated the birth anniversary of Veeranari Chakali Ailamma at the party's state office.
Ailamma is remembered as a symbol of self-respect and women's empowerment who fought against the Nizam's oppressive rule and the atrocities of the Razakars.
Rajya Sabha member and BJP OBC Morcha National President Dr K Laxman garlanded her portrait and paid rich tributes.
BJP OBC Morcha State President Anand Goud and several party leaders also participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Laxman said it was an honour to commemorate the legacy of Chakali Ailamma, whose struggle gave self-confidence to the poor, weaker sections, and women.
