Kolkata, June 15 -- BJP Member of Parliament and former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay, now admitted to a private hospital in South Kolkata with acute pancreatitis alongside gastrointestinal sepsis, was critical but stable, doctors said on Sunday.
Gangopadhyay was hospitalised on Saturday night with severe symptoms including vomiting, abdominal pain and distension.
"He remains critical but stable," the hospital said in a media statement.
Medical investigation has confirmed the 63-year-old leader was suffering from acute pancreatitis with gastrointestinal sepsis. He is currently being treated in the hospital's Critical Care Unit (CCU), where he is under round-the-clock monitoring.
